Founded by Jeremy Harris and Brad Miller in 2011, WoodLab Designs set out to push past the limits of conventional Woodworking and Construction practices with the goal to create innovative wood-based art pieces and 3 Dimensional displays. Jeremy received a Bachelors of Art from the California Institute of Art in 2003. As a second generation craftsman, Brad brought with him years of Industry Trade knowledge and invaluable hands-on experience. Together these two friends were well equipped and inspired to create a woodworking shop space where anything could be possible. Jeremy and Brad not only understand where previous limits were set, but they know how to successfully advance past them.
Using a state-of-the-art CNC Router and Laser Cutting/Engraving as well as a fully equipped wood shop, WoodLab can work with a customer’s specific idea to produce a clean, effective, aesthetic display or art-piece crafted from the sustainable harvest of wood products. While the use of next generation technology begins many of our products, it is then the artists’ ability which produces a high quality fit and finish, through a multifaceted hands-on process, unmatched by any technological device.
Located in Humboldt County, CA, we take pride in being local!
Our Community is very important to us. Throughout the years we have supported our community through donations to various non-profit organizations such as North Coast Children’s Services, Scrap Humboldt, Humboldt State University Art Department, and other youth service programs. We strive for zero waste by making our remnants available to community craft makers and creators. We are constantly surprised by what can be up-cycled with what we cast aside!
We have been honored as Business Presenters for our local Historical Society, Humboldt State University, and Humboldt Made – a local nonprofit focused on the advancement of Artisan Entrepreneurs; and we participate in many local Art Festivals. We also proudly sponsor the Humboldt member-based P3 Oasis Camp. Located in the Black Rock City, P3 Oasis provides an opportunity to design, build, and share our unique ideas and sculptures with a much larger, diverse group of like-minded Makers and innovators. Together, bound by the unique challenge of creating a temporary universe in a harsh desert climate, we enjoy the creative camaraderie that is the Burning Man experience.
